I currently use a desktop pc which im very happy with but have the odd occasion when it would be handy to be able to work upstairs or in the living room,
I dont have the budget for a laptop and i need to be able to browse webpages and compose letters using microsoft word to make it compatible with my desktop, ive been looking on ebay for a 2nd hand laptop (under £75 ideally) and come across this
From my point of view it seems to have all i need but am i missing anything ? can anyone come up with a better solution ?
many thanks !!

well personally i wouldnt bother with this as its a netbook so not great for long sessions typing,
also with only 128mb of ram it will be painfully slow
and its running windows CEDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
Agree with gonzo. avoid it.
Only 2gb HD, cpu arm 300mhz, 7 inch screen, 128mb Ram & Windows CE
Save your pennies and buy something decent.
I have been using a Samsung NC10 netbook for the last 1 1/2 years now and have had no problems.0 -
here you go
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Toshiba-Sat-Pro-4600-Laptop-Computer-/120615699432?pt=UK_Computing_Laptops_EH&hash=item1c154183e8 - just make sure it comes with a power pack and battery
use the remaining money from your budget to buy some more ram, if this is right http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=28447&ft=M&st=1 it uses pc133 ram (old SD ram) but buy from here http://www.ebuyer.com/search?store=2&cat=152&subcat=1702
this will never be a fast system, but should be useable, windows 2000 has only recently had support pulled (June or July 2010) so isnt totally out of date yet

many thanks gonzo I think i will have to wait for a month or 2 and save like mad to get a better budget, it doesnt seem worth while getting a "it will do for now" notebook. I like the look of the one youve posted so will look at going down that routeBow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais

Once extra RAM is installed, it would be easy to update this machine to XP or even Ubuntu/variant.
You couldn't even install Word on the machine in the OP's post.0 -

well that was a 'do for now' laptop i suggested since it still isnt great spec, however if you can save some more and get a better budget that will help a lot and will open other possible solutions.
in the mean time it might be worth looking into things such as open office as a option since it is compatible with microsoft office but totally free, this should at least cover you if the laptop you look at buying doesnt include microsoft office/wordDrop a brand challenge

hey, its not polite to laugh at numpties
Ok, spent the afternoon going back and forth over my options, and ive come across this the price is good compared with other retailers so im not paying a massive amount over the odds and i can put some away each month to cover the cost and do a BNPL (i already have an acc with them)
take off £10 discount and 8% quidco aswell so price around the £360 mark,
is it a decent spec machine ?
thanks again guys my OH has no interest in this and my pathetic knowledge is far greater than his !

If you can't afford it now, just don't buy it. You can get yourself a Netbook for around £150, so keep saving.0 -
This netbook with a copy of Open Office would probably meet your needs for less than the laptop.
