Four Energy companies facing sales probe.

Four of the "big six" UK energy suppliers are to be investigated amid concerns of mis-selling to customers, the regulator has announced.
Npower, Scottish Power, Scottish and Southern Energy, and EDF Energy all face questions over face-to-face and telephone sales of energy contracts.

Ofgem said it had received information from a variety of sources suggesting they could have breached new rules.
The quartet said they would work with Ofgem on the investigation.

Maybe OFGEM could investigate themselves whilst they are at it?

Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

OFGEM are a joke, I know that without even looking at the facts posted. The way that the utility companies were allowed to hike their prices (when oil was at an all time high) but then continue to charge the inflated prices long after the worldwide costs had gone way down was just an absolute scandal. Of course it also happened to be one of the coldest winters where we had to up our usage too which was a double hit for the consumer (more lost £££'s) and for the supplier (more gained £££'s).

At long last, this is well overdue, I hope something will actually happen to them and they will be punished.

Perhaps they could look into the unecessarily multiple myriad of complicated tariffs available and simplify things for the customer.

I hope they do a better job of it than they have done on gas sculpting, ensuring full & proper competition in the market (something Energwatch was criticsing them for 2 or 3 years back & still hasn't changed!) etc. I shall not therefore be holding my breath for improvements. It's time Ofgem was replaced with somebody far more proactive and competent in my opinion.
