RAC LEGAL CARE POLICY rip-off

This is serious and everyone should take note of this - it could happen to us all!
I would like to highlight that the RAC Legal Care policy is not at all what it says it is.
They promote the benefits such as "you and your family covered in any motoring accident" Without informing you of the exclusions in the same piece of literature.
· Legal Advice 24 hours a day 365 days a year
· Up to £100,000 worth of cover
· Replacement vehicle hire after a non-fault accident
· Cover in any vehicle not just your own
RAC even compare themselves in print to other car insurance companies offering legal cover, yet they do compare their terms & conditions to those other firms.
Which in reality make their policy very much inferior and worthless to those companies compared.
For example; I declined my car insurance companies premium legal cover because on face-value the RAC offered above and beyond what Swinton legal care provided. HOWEVER, my family and I were involved in a serious motorway accident whereby our car was driven off the road by an uninsured driver, our vehicle overturned twice and we had to be rescued from the smoking car. The person responsible for the accident left the scene.
Witnesses got the number plate of the hit & run driver and the police filed reports of the incident.
I've had my RAC legal Care policy for more than 5 years and never claimed, yet when I asked them to provide the replacement vehicle and possibly any other assistance in this matter, they told me under no circumstances could i claim! Due to the fact that the we did not have the name, address, policy number and insurance company of the other driver!!!!!
They even had the audacity to say "you have to take responsibility for not reading the small print/terms & conditions"
When an insurance firm tells you that you and your family are covered in any motoring accident, why would you need to read the small print, should there even be any small print when making such a definite statement?
An accident like that could happen to anyone, you just never expect it. The irony of it all is, had I taken Swinton's (my full comp car insurance company) legal care I would have received a replacement vehicle within 4 hours of making a claim regardless of it being a hit and run non-fault accident.
I'd love to hear from anyone else having experienced similar circumstances with RAC Legal Care, as I've already submitted my story to watchdog.

Swinton...don't make me laugh!0

Swinton are not an insurance company, they are insurance advisors who place your policy with an insurance company.0

The legal cover attached to many policies is rubbish.
You try using it.
You will ,at best, get some telephone advice that you could get off MSE free of charge.
Just buy the basic insurance cover and dont bother with this value added rubbish.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
