MOT problems
Took the car to an MOT garage yesterday. The car previously failed its MOT at another place but i thought i could get the work done a bit cheaper.
Anyway I gave them the failure MOT cert with details of what needed to be done. They gave me a price and I agreed to get the work done.
But it's the end of the second day and the MOT has still not been completed.
They claim that the exhaust gave off such excessive fumes that they had to abort the MOT.
So although they've corrected all the work on the car that it failed on originally, I'm not sure if there is anything else it could fail on because they haven't completed the re-rest fully yet.
I asked them specifically to get in done by this eve cos I gotta drive my dad to Harefield Hosp for an operation in the morning.
But this evening they told me that they needed more time.
What's all this about? And how can I go about protecting myself here, cos I think they've screwed up by not completing a re-test in a reasonable time.
Basically I think I have a right to know, in a reasonable time, whether to keep repairing the car (it's pretty old) or to scrap it or try and trade it in without an MOT.

What you should have done is taken the car away and got the work done and returned the car to the other place within 10 working days for a partial half-fee retest.0
