Account management tools. What do you use?

Not sure if this is the right forum but couldn't find a more suitable one.
I've used Quicken as well as MS Money in the past to track finances, but didn't find them particularly useful.
So, how do you manage your accounts? Do you craft your own excel spreadsheets, use some online tool or other type of application? Is there a 'best' out there?

I use MS Money for my personal accounts. I use IFA software for my investments (pretty obviously)
I have used MS Money for about 20 years and find it great. What dont you like about it?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Quickbooks is very easy to use - have used it since about 20040

Simple excel spreadsheet for me.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0

I use GnuCash, which I'm quite happy with. I haven't tried Quicken/MS Money, but I imagine it might be similar enough that you wouldn't like it either.0

I use Accountz as a ledger tool to track all income and ALL expenses. With the way I have set it up, it makes producing the figures for a tax return very easy. I don't think I could use it for tracking share accounts for which I will probably develop a spreadsheet.0

I use GnuCash: http://www.gnucash.org/index.phtml
It is free open source software. You need to learn a bit of basic accounting to make full use of it.0 -

I am now getting tired of my spreadsheets and am looking for a simple accounting software (free). But I really would like it to have a budget comparison option. Any ideas which of the free ones facilitate this? (And cashflow forecast would just be the ultimate...)"Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

I use kmymoney, this is free and linux only. Its an excellent personal finance and budgeting tracking. I moved to it about two months ago from Moneydance, a cross platform java basd app, took a single evening to import over 5 years of records, very pleased with it.
Also does ok with my investment tracking, but i run a spread sheet along side it for this side of my finances.0
