Refund policy question for Wickes

Had and interesting one this week, and it put me at a disadvantage as I was unsure of my exact rights.
Here's the issue.
I purchased a designed radiator from Wickes, it's one that gets delivered direct from the supplier.
Paid with credit card in store about 2 weeks ago.
Anyhow, radiator turns up, and is bent. Been dropped.
Contact Wickes, who were very helpful and got another one on order.
This one turns up, and bent.
After a few days trying to convince the supplier to check the item before they ship another one, they finally did, and guess what, it's bent.
I contacted the supplier directly as Wickes were now not being so helpful, and the supplier tells me that it's going to be over a week for another batch to arrive.
Getting fed up with this, I decided to get a similar item from another supplier, and went into the Wickes store tonight to cancel order for a refund.
Store manager told me he could not refund on the spot until he had spoken to the supplier.
I argued that my contract was with Wickes, but he was having none of it and insisted on contacting the supplier tomorrow morning before he would issue refund.
Question is, where do I stand here. Was I within my rights to insist in refund?

You are entitled to a full refund as original product is not fit for purpose. As for supplier/supply, not sure it would be a small print check i am afraid.
Full refund for all hurrah!Marry a Foreigner, its so much cheaper!0
