Conceiving/TTC after Ovranette?

Hiya,

Hubby and I have decided that i will come off the pill in November, and then have a few months getting my body back to normal, before starting the TTC in April.

I've been on Ovranette for about 2 years, having been on Microgynon about 18months before than, and Ovranette another 2 years before that. I've really noticed my periods becoming very very short and minimal since i went on the mcrogynon, and they've not returned to how they were since i went back to Ovranette and i'm just a bit concerned about how long it will take to get back in to a reasonable cycle.

Was wondering if anyone else out there has been on Ovranette and how they have found coming off, and how long it took to conceive?

Any info would be much appreciated as i'm just a bit worried about it all right now, especially having just turned 35..

Tia,

Kx

I got pregnant within 3 months of coming off Ovranette back in 2004, getting pregnant after the depo injection - well that's a whole different story:mad:

    Thanks RLH33.
Good to know. Can i ask, did your cycle get back to a pattern properly before you became pregnant?

I stopped taking this pill, had 1 period and that was it with my 1st baby, however with the 2nd, it took 10 months. So i dont think it really matters what pill you are on, as with the 3rd baby, (different pill) i stopped it on the thursday and by scan dates, concieved on the saturday!!! Good luck for when the time comes!! xx

the pill has its own little way of not having a common pattern sorry

  • I'd just go for it now (unless there is another reason for waiting). You might be lucky and it'll work straight away...or it might take ages. I was on the pill for a long time and my periods went back pretty much straight away to the horrible nightmare they had been before...but 2 years on still no baby...

Thanks for the advice Kitten.. unfortunately not in a position to go for it now due to my finances. Am saving hard so that by April 11 i'll have enough put aside to pay the monthly payments on the debts my ex kindly lumbered me with when i booted him out and he ran off to Brazil!! £38K down :j, £20k to go :(.

  • I have been on the pill for 16 years - stopped twice and conceived within 1 month both times! I count myself extremely lucky as I have friends who are unable to conceive.

Don't think there are any defs on this one - good luck!

Gosh thought i was one of the few on Ovranette as never hear it mentioned! Had been on it a year or so and came off it to have dd 2 which took about 3 weeks if that..but like others have said everyone is diff and not sure there is a deff answer. My periods now are all over the shop with it but been fine for years! Good luck x

Thanks for all your input. I get that it seems to vary person to person- but there seem to be some encouraging stories, which makes me feel better.

I'll have to see how it goes! Having done some reading, have decided to go on folic acid straight away, rather than waiting till off the pill, will try and drop some extra pounds as well. I'll try anything! Fingers crossed, and i look forward to posting on the TTC and EDD threads hopefully next year!

Gabyjane- i think the reason you dont hear about ovranette so much is that it went out of production/in short supply for about a year, so docs switched people off it, and didnt put new ones on it. I hated the Microgynon they put me on when it happened, so pleased to go back on O as soon as it became available again!!
