lying to get car insurance cheaper

one of our family members has asked us if they can say they are living at our address so they get their car insurance cheaper, my partner said yes but i said no as i read there could be problems with our insurance(not car insurance) if the family member ever got caught
the thing is as well its not like its around the corner we are living from the family member, its about 80 miles
does anyone know if that's true?

You are taking part in the crime of fraud, so look up the penalties for fraud.0

yeah Quentin, i know all that but they said loads of people do it and its no biggy...would have a better chance of convincing my partner to say no if it made OUR insurance claims null and void ( saying its fraud doesn't bother him)
they are all going to hate me, i just need other information that it would effect OUR house and pet insurance if the family member was caught, then maybe they would understand:(0 -
Depends if you were proven party to the fraud - they have an accident close to where they live, questions are asked and the fraud team are knocking on your door - could you handle the questioning? Any criminal record isn't good for insurance.0

You won't be able to get any insurance via normal sources if you get caught in the conspiracy!
Whenever you take out any policy you are asked if anyone involved with the policy (home/car etc) has ever been convicted. When you answer yes, then the majority of insurers don't want to know you.0 -
What you suggest is conspiring to commit fraud. If the fraud is discovered you may discover that no insurance company will insure you for anything - car, contents, animals etc - in the future..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
thank you!
if anyone reads this and knows who i am, I'm really sorry you put me in an impossible situation
we've just bought a VERY expensive puppy with quite high insurance and i just can't risk not been able to pay for vet care if he was ill...probably the chances of getting caught are hardly anything but i STILL can't risk it
thank you all for your very helpful advice:)0 -

Will your moneysaving reason for avoiding the conspiracy be good enough for you letting down the rest of the conspirators?
Why not just post here for them to read you aren't going to do it cos its dishonest?0
