Hey, im moving into private accomadation next month.
My parents have Aviva Home Plus insurance
http://broker.aviva.co.uk/personal/home/home-plus/
It says it covers for items 'temporarily removed' from the household. However the documents are so complex I cant make head or tail of them. So am I covered for Laptop, Xbox and clothes? (Not really concerned about anything elese)
Thanks

Try giving it a read again, starting from page 20. I gave it a quick skim, I might have missed something.
You would be covered, section B para a:
Loss of or damage to contents by any of the causes listed under Section A while temporarily removed from the home to:
a. any bank or safe deposit, or any private home or building where you are living (including while attending full-time education), employed or working in the British Isles;
You're covered up to 20% of the 'normal' content value that is insured. Seems you're covered for the normal things e.g. theft (only if there's a break in, not by flat mates or their friends), fire, flood, acts of God. Doesn't appear that the accidental cover applies to goods away for the home.0 -

Thanks, Ill try to give it a good read, but I must say I find large documents full of techno jargon very difficult to read. Its good news though.0 -
Check the fine print carefully as sometimes laptops aren't included.

Laptops are included. Any 'contents' are covered, which they define as:
"Household items and personal belongings
• that you own;
• that you are legally responsible for;
...This includes personal money up to £500"
Their definition of personal money is quite broad:
"Cash, cheques, postal orders, unused postage stamps, savings stamps and certificates, premium bonds, luncheon and gift vouchers, season tickets, travel tickets, travellers’ cheques and phone cards, all held for social, domestic or charitable purposes."
So don't ever forget to claim for your 1st class stamps ha. The excess is £60 by the way.0
