Talkcover mobile phone Cancellation

I took out mobile phone insurance with Talkcover for £52.92 on 8/08/2010. It said at the time you could cancel after 14 days, after this you get £32.96 back. I soon after found out the phone was already insured with another company my son had bought it from. I was unaware of this until looking at my statement and had been paying for 3 months. I straight away sent a letter to cancel which was within 14 days. I felt unsure they would do anything and after not hearing anything sent another letter which they received on 31/08/2010. I spent ages on the phone and finally got through only to be told the first letter had not been received only the second, which of course was after 14 days. They would only refund £39.62 and i was very annoyed with this. I had also e-mailed within 14 days.
I thought this was very unfair.
Can anyone help?

    Hi and welcome

I would send them another letter and tell them your not happy with this, as more have been paid into this account of the insurance.

Did you post the first letter by recorded delivery?
If so have you still got the receipt, if you have then check the status of delivery, (proof of posting on track and trace via Royal mail website) and if you the printing facilities - print it off and post this to them, then ask them to reconsider the amount to the date they received it,as it's not your fault if they claimed they did not receive it when you know they have.

Hope this is of some help to you.

And if they still don't resolve it, then I'm sure your able to make the complaint to the financial ombudsman service (FOS), although please be aware this may take some time.

    Good luck.

  • Thankyou for your reply but i didn't think i would need proof of postage, so only sent by letter. I'd make sure i don't do that again!!
