Signing off JSA and help with costs going back to work

I have been signing on JSA for nearly a year after a redundancy. Thankfully I recently found a new job and started two weeks ago but unfortunately I don't get my first wage until the end of September.
I was hoping I would qualify for the £100 back to work grant to help with the travel costs until payday but I've just been told that as I missed a sign-on day and they signed me off for a week and started a new claim in May so I am not eligible for the grant. I have had no JSA since 23th August now.
Is there any other way I can get help with initial costs like a grant or loan? If not I am not going to have enough money to travel to work till my first payday at the end of the month. I really don't want to have to quit this job but I see no other way as I can't walk the 12 miles there and back each day.

Maybe a crisis loan.
Indeed - Crisis Loans can be awarded for 'Alignment to Wages' - but only if there is no other avenue available to you - e.g. overdraft facility/anyone that can loan you money, advance from work, etc.
Be aware that Crisis Loans can only be awarded for certain expenses. Travelling to work, unfortunately, is 'excluded' (not-payable) by law.
In a nutshell, they could help with Food, Gas, Electric, Toiletries, etc, but cannot help with travelling to work or work clothing expenses...Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
