Due to a long-dying mattress giving up the ghost and having a spring pop through tonight (ouch), i need to replace our king size mattress ASAP, and as cheaply as possible. Although i know a good quality mattress is best, i really can only afford the utter basics at the moment, as i have about £120 on my credit card and very very little/nothing spare over just the bills at the moment!

Have you checked Argos, I got mine there and it was only about £90, a double and very comfy.
Another option would be one of the home shopping books, Empire, LX, Marshsall Ward ect. There are really good discount codes on here especially for first time users.
You would get home delivery free and the chance to spread the payments.
