God forbid i tell you "your job" :D but the loan was for 7 years and was repaid at least a year earlier, so that makes about 60 months ppi paid? x

thats what i thought, 7 years is 84 months, so 1 year earlier is 72 months, 60 is 5 years, i think,
I'm proud to say that the banks no longer take money from me after becoming debt free

  • I have a loan with LLoyds - which I took out in 2006

The repayments are £149.55 per month, but due to having a few ops in the past few years, I agreed with Lloyds to pay £100 per month, until
I was back on my feet.

They now want me to take out a new loan with them - to cover my 'arrears' - but as I said to them - how can it be arrears, when
    it was agreed with them?

I am sill not on my feet - but last payment they took from me was the original amount of £149.55

    I am confused

Hi there, did you have ppi on this loan? if you did do you have reasons for mis sell? as for the bank offering you a loan to clear arrears on the old one, i would give fos a ring and put a complaint in, they are out of order. You are in debt to them and they want you to take more debt to pay them back
Hope you get well soon x
  • I rang them, and spoke to a lady.

I asked her lots of questions - and she just kept coming back with the same reply.

I dont want a new loan - I just want to pay this one off as quickly as possible.

But she was getting frustrated with me

I would just mention that it becomes confusing when two different topics are being discussed in the same thread. It would be better if you posted in a new thread rather than hi-jack someone elses. This topic also seems more appropriate to the Loans forum rather than the PPI Reclaims forum you are now in.

    However, . . .

I think the problem here is that the arrangement for you to pay £100 instead of £149.55 each month was an informal arrangement which the bank now wants to end and replace with a new contractual agreement. Although you say you want to pay off the original loan as soon as possible, you still do not seem willing to meet the required payments under the existing agreement. If you are also being charged late-payment fees at the moment then your loan is likely to last considerably longer than originally contracted for.

The bank appears to be offering you an alternative to putting you in default of your original contract. In the circumstances, I think perhaps you ought to consider taking out a new agreement at a monthly payment you are willing or able to pay.

  • I cam onto this thread because I thought it was about LLoyds

I will go onto the other

I do not want another agreement

    It is confusing
