Santander £100 plan?

So, Hubby & I are looking at moving bank aco!!!!s to Santander while the £100 deal is still on. We currently have a joint account with Nationwide.

I had a cunning (or not) plan, If both Hubby & I set up accounts does anyone know if we would both get the £100 or because we are setting up 2 accounts from one if they would only give us one lot of £100 (which is what I imagine). I can't find this senario anywhere on their info and kind of don't want to ask them either! Hmm wonder if it would be worth me setting up another account with Nationwide and transferring that to Santander?

Id actually like to hear from someone who has received this £100 "incentive" to switch. From what Ive heard, they try every trick in the book to not pay out, so I really wouldnt bother, too much aggravation. It would take more than £100 to make me join them, im leaving them and cant wait till my accounts are closed!
Debt free and staying that way!

They pay out if the accounts are primary - i.e if you get a sum regularly paid in and use it for DD's etc - so if you both work and are happy to have separate accounts for your salaries etc you should have no problems.
  • I left them, as well. The £100 and 6% interest for a year was barely enough compensation for their inability to provide good service. I also suspect that they source the country to employ the most stupid and insincere staff. It beggars belief at how bad service I received at times from them...
  • Yup, I am afraid I agree. i am not sure that £500 would be enough to persuade me to stay/join after the last 8 weeks of hell - no internet banking, double DD's being taken, etc etc etc

If you're just moving because of the £100 incentive, then First Direct offer the very same... and they are good at what they do (imho!)

    No, you can't do this.
I asked them, the other day.
Even apart from the £100 you can't do it becos the DDs have to be switched, and they wouldn't know which to allocate to which of your accounts. Also they said the new a/c has to be in the same name(s). So you can only go from a joint a/c to a new joint a/c.

PS If you do go for it, don't forget £35 Quidco
  • Does Anyone know if you have to keep the santander account as your main one for a certain period of time? I recently changed to A&L and received the £100 bonus, however I dont rate A&L compared to Nationwide. Can I change back to Nationwide without them taking the £100 back?

    Many thanks.
  • Thanks everyone for the info, customer service is important, may have to re-think this!

Surely it's worth losing the £100 to get away from their ineptitude.

They will never claim the £100 back. I switched to them and switched away after 2 months of pain. Now they are just a savings account.
