Why do people get so aggressive when ...

It could equally be asked why some posters get so defensive, when they post for advice and don't hear what they want to hear...
Just read Unbeliever's thread. Nothing aggressive or "shouty" to be seen.0 -
It irks me that there are also some sellers who won't reduce their prices simply because it would realise their negative equity. Instead they would like some hapless buyer to buy their negative equity from them.

What do these Estate Agents know that the rest of us without crystal balls don't? Property prices could drop in the near future and then remain stagnant for years and years. What they probably don't know, understand or care about is the huge risks a person might be taking renting with no experience as a landlord.0 -

Charming.
But if the seller doesn't need to go anywhere -they would just like to live in another house- why should the have to carry the additional debt away with them? If there is a buyer who wants the house enough to pay what the seller is asking, why shouldn't they be allowed to clear their debt? The seller won't be able to find that buyer unless they have their house on the market. And if they need to be on the market a long time before the buyer comes along, that is not your problem. You don't need to be involved in the transaction so why let it irk you? Make your offer - if it is rejected move along the bus and leave the vendor alone to wait for the right buyer.0 -
Well, it’s a combination of stuff being irritating and people having a capacity to be irritated. Thickos, stupidity, ignorance, absurdity, crassness, inanity, bad attitude, messing people about, inefficiency, lying, cheating etc are all rather annoying, if you enjoy being annoyed. “I’m only happy when I’m teed off!” However, if you’re happy about yourself and the world then you tend to regard idiocy and nastiness as amusing rather than indulging in frustration about it. Cos I’m a mostly upbeat person I tend to often find twits and rancid people as entertaining rather than frustrating. I laugh in the face of adversity. I spend most of my life giggling, I rarely get angry or irritable. But then I’m lucky like that. Yeah, mostly stuff doesn’t get to me, usually it engages my sense of humour and the absurd and usually the more idiotic it is the more it makes me laugh. Of course a lot of people take everything terribly seriously and have a hair trigger temper and don’t suffer fools gladly and get all frustrated and annoyed about everything and work themselves up into a lather about even the simplest of things. But I’m above all that, I take a global God like view of the wholly sorry mess of life. We’ll all be dead one day and in the meantime all the petty wriggling about and ridiculousness and nastiness is just an endlessly fascinating soap opera. Sometimes it’s just tedious but most of the time it happily fills in the time between birth and death, between waking up and going back to bed…0

Worth quoting as a philosophy of life, or just to annoy those who'll be irritated by it!
I have to admit that after 'losing' about £50k and having many adventures on the way to a my new home, the only thing I can usefully do now is laugh about the whole sorry affair......but I was happy with the way it all ended, so maybe that's not so impressive.
A lot of other folk have just begun their journey, or they're only half way through, so their feelings will be less jovial. I know what that feels like too.
Can I reassure them that it will all be OK?
No.
However, the most important thing I learned in the two years of selling and buying again, is that there's nothing to be gained by being faint-hearted. Don't p u s s yfoot (I'm from the 'Dark Side' and know the filter well!) around. Fortune really does favour the brave.

We all bought the lie "greed is good". Unfortunately our expectations can be flawed and this is demonstrated by confusing a valuation with what somebody is prepared to pay. The game has changed though. Mortgages are now harder to obtain, employment is less secure. Yet I can understand why many people feel compelled to try and get the asking price. Debt is still debt in the rigged market that is property.
I said it before in previous posts all this is the fault of Maggie Thatcher and her cohorts. However pointing the finger of blame doesn't solve the problem for many thousands of people that for sound reasons need to sell.
I've always wondered what would have happened if the state could have pressed a "factory" restore button and gone back to a earlier known good point in time. That is knock something like 35% of house/property prices and the same percentage of outstanding debt. Yet keep wages at current levels. Or that just to obvious?0 -

I could sell £10 notes all day long if I offered them for £1......
Doesn't mean that's their value though.
Speed isn't everything, and only the desperate need to sell at firesale prices.
Most people are better to wait until the right buyer comes along or the market picks up.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

right, and of course they told you the smartest way of doing that is to use them as letting agents.unbeliever wrote: »Every estate agent has said to me, rent for a few years, ride this out and you'll be in a better position for it.

Absolutely correct.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
