Turkey in April?

I would like to treat my OH to a week or 10 days away. I asked a few friends and Turkey seemed to be a popular and relatively cheap option. We would prefer to go whilst it isn't too busy with the children beig off school, but still want it to be hot. Would April be suitable? I think we'd try to find an all inclusive package. Would it be best to save the money, book a couple of weeks off, then book last minute? I haven't ever booked a holiday before!

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

  • Not all the tour operators have packages or flights to Antalya, Bodrum or Dalaman in April. The season really starts at the beginning of May. Some operators such as Holidays4U and Thomas Cook usually start at the beginning of May.

Note it will be busier and therefore more expensive around Easter as this is often the first opportunity for sunshine in the year at a reasonable price!!

  • Thanks. I really am a novice at this so any advice is greatly appreciated and taken onboard. I'm not set on any particular date or destination, just want a well-deserved rest in the sun! What would you recommend?

We've been to Marmaris in April a couple of times and the weather has been great. It's quiet but not too quiet and you get great deals on the trips as the proper season hasn't started. Whilst this may sound scary (if you've never booked a holiday before) you should look at https://www.skyscanner.net for flights (put your departure airport and then turkey then where dates are click on calendar to the right and select whole year) then sites like https://www.travelrepublic.co.uk for hotels (they also do transfers too). You can also check with Thomas Cook as there seem to be a lot of flights operated by them flying during April. We're actually going in May next year as it's my 40th otherwise we would have been going in April too. Have a great time whatever you decide!

    hi.
I know its off topic but there you go
we are going on holiday to Turkey and this will be first time for us(2 adult and a 2 year old boy) and I was just wondering about the transports.
We will be staying in Kemer and I was checking transports ,they are all saying either to Antalya city or Kemer.
Do you know whether they would take us to our hotel or just leave us in the town? Also I am looking to cheapest option and dont have any idea about transfers in Antalya.
    Any help appreciated

and for April holiday I am %100 sure it is a great weather to be holidaying.
  • Over the years we have holidayed in Turkey a few times the last week of April and first week of May. Although we have had nice warm days it is still really chilly at night so be prepared with a sweater/big cardi or even a jacket. The evenings start getting warmer as you move into May.

What about the weather towards end of October in marmaris/icmeler for half term? and is everywhere still open?
  • I have always had nice weather in April and haven't found it cold at night at all. Towards the end of October can change. Sometimes it is really fine and other times it can rain and be a bit cool. Up to the middle is usually really good, although I have also had it really nice in November.
