Jsa?????

Hi, I have just been made redundant and I am actively searching for jobs but unfortunately not much is available. I've been job hunting for just over a month and have failed to get a single interview despite having a CV to match all the required criteria of the posts I've been applying for.
I have never claimed benefits in my life but fear that I have no other choice but to consider job seekers allowance as my household bills aren't going to pay for themselves.

If anyone could tell me a little about the system I would be grateful. I hear that they can help to find suitable work and also arrange interviews, is this correct?
Also would I need a letter to state that I was made redundant in order to claim?

Many Thanks

  • Some of the jobcentre staff can be extremely helpful - others not so much! Depends on who your advisor is really, i did have a really useless one for quite a while (mixed up appointment dates which led to me loosing money and didn't actually advise me) i usually had to tell her what help i wanted for her to actually do something.

Needless to say i put in a complaint about her and my advisor was switched and i am so happy it was, the lady i was then being helped by was fantastic and she told me about the future jobs fund which i was only just eligable for due to my age and now i am working.

I would suggest claim benefits - it does knock your pride i wont deny that but why should you have to worry about your bills when you have most likely paid more into the system than you will ever take out of it.

And one last piece of advice if you want the help and you aren't getting it from your advisor complain and asked to switched, there are some good ones so dont be too put off by the many bad ones.

Good luck, i hope everything works out for you
    xx
