Very angry with Moonpig! Any advice would be great!

My boyfriend ordered a dozen roses for my birthday, as well as a balloon and vase. (costing him around £55).

They arrived and were fine, but two days later the flowers were dead before they had even opened. I emailed moonpig who said they would send me a new bunch. I agreed that they send them yesterday (31st Aug)

They did not arrive, after I stayed in waiting for them.

I emailed Moonpig again, and they said they did not realise their courier did not deliver on bank holidays so they have a backlog of deliveries etc etc. and that my flowers would come at the earliest tomorrow (2nd Sept)
and that they have credited my BF's account with £10 for future orders.

What are the rules here?

I'm sure after this hassle for me, my BF doesn't really want more credit for the website. it was my birthday on 9th August and I've still not had a decent present! he's furious! And i'm getting sick of emailing back and forth.

Is that a fair solution do you think or do I need to look into my consumer rights?

thanks in advance

  • It appears as though they are rtying to rectify the problem by sending more flowers, and they gave him a credit. What do you think would be a fair solution to this? Did your BF agree to accept the £10 credit? Was that your only present then? You say you haven't had a decent one yet!

Considering it's gone on this long I'd personally contact them and say you don't want replacement flowers you'd just like a refund. Although As you've had a credit don't expect the full amount.

The rules are that you don't have any consumer rights unless you want to sue the BF for taking the easy option with your birthday !

The contract is with your BF so it is between him and Moonpig however they have replaced the flowers albeit they are still in transit and given £10 credit. He could ask for the credit to be applied as a refund but otherwise Moonpig seem to have acted reasonably
