Tomy Bed Guard - how do I fit it?

Can anyone help.

I have been leant a Tomy Bed Guard and I haven't a clue how to fit it.

The poles are all in place, but not sure where the bendy part of the poles that go under the mattress sit.

Do they overhang the bed, or do they turn upwards to fit the mattress on top?

Also how does it sit on the bed. I have a cotbed, so it is wooden slatted. Do I rest it on top of each of the wooden sides of the bed, or inside ontop of the slats.

should slide under the bed with the upturned bits facing up(like a "u" shape) -so the mattress is secure inside them. Then the pocket should be facing in, so your child can put book/toys in it, and reach it from bed.

I've just bought one and have the instructions if that will help (they're not brill though!)

We have a foam mattress and it it curves up and digs into the side of it

The problem is I don't seem to be able to get it to lie flat under the mattress. The brackets that hold the actual guard doesn't lie flat it protrudes at an angle.

So I have a sloping effect, and it doesn't feel very secure.

Are others finding this? I can see how this would work with a divan, but a wooden slatted bed I'm not sure if this is suitable. Are you all managing to work it with a divan, or has anyone success with a wooden bed?

i used it with a wooden bed but im not sure if they are really supposed to be used in this way to be honest !

i was able to get it to lie flat,on the wooden base i just couldnt operate the "pull up and fold down" mechanism as it was down in the base IYSWIM ? lol

i was using it on a wooden single bed not a cot bed though so dont know if that makes a difference ?

it fitted much better on a proper divan bed at my mums

I bought one of these when dd first moved into her bed and wasnt happy with it at all. We have a junior bed with quite a flimsy mattress with no real weight in it - And if dd lent against the yellow mesh it would tip and take mattress with it, and of course dd

I used it two nights and now its lurking in the back of the cupboard somewhere.

Mine is fine on a normal bed (when staying over at Nan's house, etc) but it won't fit on my sons cotbed properly. To be honest though it is only 1 ft off the ground, so if yours is the same i wouldn't bother with it.

My son hated his Tomy Bed Guard so I used a duvet on the floor incase he fell out instead as was only a foot or so high, he only ever fell out twice.

I think I'll put a duvet on the floor tonight.

The Tomy guard seems more dangerous than falling out of bed.

Poor little man fell out last night and we all had a disturbed sleep, so if a duvet is there to catch him, it may be a softer landing and not wake him up. I have been trying to tuck a sheet in the bed to hold him in, but he refuses to have any covers on!
