range versus hob oven combo

Im trying to decide wether to opt for a range style cooker or a hob and oven. I will lose work top space with range but that will enable me to have a larder. My current kitchen seems to have food in an assortment of cupboards. At present we have a seperate oven and hob. I like the fact that I dont have to bend to look into the oven and the grill is at eye level.
Has anyone had both and which would they recommend?

just moved from hob and oven to range cooker. definitely notice that you need to bend down to get to the oven. Also the range seems to pump more heat into the kitchen than an oven.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
