Help with XP Upgrade

I installed the XP Upgrade last night and it seemed to be working well at the time, but when I went to turn on my laptop this morning it came up with a message saying:

Check disc C for consistency

When I do this it takes me to the Loading Windows page, but before it can display the list of usernames it flashes up with an error page then automatically re-boots. What have I done wrong? I'm sure I remember seeing a similar post recently but can't seem to find it now. Thanks in advance - might not be able to get back on for a few days

Actually, I don't think that one will help me. I can't get past the username login bit, it just keeps re-booting continuously before it gets there

can you access safe mode?

what ever you do dont browse the net in safe mode

Yes, it lets me do that. I'm off now but will hopefully be able to check this thread tomorrow, night all

you could run a virus and spyware checker in safe mode and see if that has any effect
