Property in the South West - Best Area?

We are wanting to sell our house and split the property profits between two areas.
One being central Scotland and the south west of England (Dorset, Somerset and Devon area)
We are looking to spending in the region of £200-250K in the south west and about £200 in central Scotland.
Would we be better doing this or finding a more expensive house in central Scotland and investing the rest in the building society.
Or, if the investing in the south west is a better bet, which areas are worth looking at?

I am no expert in property but have lived in many types of homes, in many locations and can only talk from experience.

I can't offer you any advice on what to do, as it has to be your decision.
However, as I live in the SW now (E Devon), I can say that lots of it is lovely. The Exeter property market it very buoyant due to several businesses and organisations like the Met Office relocating here, which pushed prices up very quickly.
I would say that you should visit the area and see if you can find what you are looking for. Remember though that transport links are not brilliant, especially to London. But who wants to go to London anyway when it's so nice hereExeter Airport has twice daily flights to Glasgow & Edinburgh and are just starting to Aberdeen, so you could possibly commute between the 2 places.
Good luck with it all - it sounds very exciting.0 -
BTL in the south west is notoriously difficult to make money at, as house prices have gone up, but rental have not gone up anywhere near enough. have a good look on https://www.rightmove.co.uk sales and lettings to research all this.0
