I thought a expired warranty was just that
*Any* warranty, on *any* product, is only ever *in addition to* your statutory rights. In law, all items must be fit for purpose and of reasonable quality, and no warranty can take that consumer right away.
I don't know enough about cars to comment on the OP's situation, but thought it worth commenting that an expired warranty does not necessarily mean the consumer has no further rights.0 -
Ok. Just confirmed this morning with my friend that the offer was 1200 and no car back. So this was not towards costs.
Ballyrobert then have a 2006 agila to put a new engine in and sell on for whatever they want.
There is a 06 one sitting for 4500.
Please remeMber people this car had full ballyrobert service history and only 19000 miles on it.
A 72 year old driving it and the conrod had snapped.
Waiting on further info and hopefully a better offer from vauxhall/ballyrobert0 -
when I bought mine 2nd hand from Ballyrobert I paid £3k plus a £500 trade in for what was then an almost 3 year old Agila with only £10k on it I'm surprised they have an 06 one for £4,500 - would it be one of the new shaped bodies?Norn Iron Club Member #64

I checked out their website. There is a 2006 1.2 enjoy with 23k for £4073.
His was the "racey" 1.2i 16v design 2006 with 19k which they are offering 1200 quid for.
His loyalty isn't exactly being rewarded so far especially after buying another brand new agila from them so quickly.
Please people remember that this is a pensioner I feel is being taken advantage of0 -
aye mine was only the 1.0 bog standard - whats the going rate on autotrader etc for it? I agree £1200 seems very low thoughNorn Iron Club Member #64

I believe they use a Corsa Engine.
Source one from a breaker and get it going again

Is there not a breakers closer than Dungannon??
maybe Newtownabbey- or local to Ballyrobert.
That seems like a plan though.0 -
Ballyrobert are professional friendly dealers , it's the product that crap - had two vauxhall's and had nothing but problems. Have now got a Hyundai and really impressed with it and a 5 year warranty . Kia have 7 years . Hope you got this sorted.0
