Lost Premium Bonds

I won £50 on premium bonds when I was about 9 (I'm now 39), and my brother won on his when he was 18 (he's now 42). Our parents passed away 20 years and 11 years ago. We both remember our wins, but I couldn't find the premium bonds anywhere. I wrote to them, stating my birth name and date, and our family address (we lived there for over 30 years), but they say that there is no record of us ever having any premium bonds at all, and even suggested that our parents must have cashed them in!!!! We both know that this is not the case!!!!! Can anyone offer any further advice please? Many thanks.....
