Office Space Fraud?

Options
Hi

I'm new to this and apologise if this is in the wrong forum post!

I am a young person who decided to try out an office space from Regus...for a three month contract and see whether it was worth it etc.

Putting down 2 months deposit and one months rent to start off with, anyway, I decided not to continue and moved out today at the end of my contract.

I have an invoice now for £740 which is for them to cover any transfers, mail etc of mine. This is apparently in all t&cs for every Regus client to have this 3 month exit service! I'm fuming at this mainly because I obviously didnt see this in the contract, and I specifically asked the area manager whether there would be any other costing and he failed to mention one hint of this!

I feel Regus was the biggest mistake in my business. I dont need a virtual office and mail direction...I live 5 minutes from the office and can't justify 700 odd pounds for this!

Can Regus legally do this? I've checked the web, and know that this has happened to other Regus customers. I dont have the money as a small biz to pay them! I've also heard others not being paid their deposits back and any late payments were charged 58% on top-crazy!

I was wondering if anyone has a similar experience and any advice. I have 4 days to pay this and have received no response from the centre manager.

ANY advice would be great...I dont want to cry on the phone to them and look like a wet rag!

Saz x

  • Saz, you've learnt a hard lesson - always read contracts in their entirety before signing them.
"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"
  • What MITS said.

If it's in the contract you signed you have no grounds for complaint.

Why would you use the word "fraud?" in the title? it's a bit harsh considering you said yourself you didn't read the contract properly!
    Thinking critically since 1996....
