This may seem a stupid q to ask but what counts as a personal cheque? Is it just a cheque connected to your bank account?
My searches are nearly all complete and got the final cost i need to pay the solicitors, it said they don't accept personal cheques.
Would i be able to pay by credit card cheque? I paid this way to begin the searches and id like to pay the rest of the money this way as well as my credit card cheques are 0% for 6mths.

A personal cheque would be one connected to your personal bank account. I suggest you ask them what an acceptable means of payment would be"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

if they dont accept a personal cheque them they probably wont accept CC cheque but you can ask .
I thought there was a fee for using CC cheques .
how do other people pay ,surely not with cash .0 -
Thanks for the info, i will ask them, but just wondered in advance if people knew about this way of paying.
If not will pay with credit card and then pay the balance off with the cash back i get from the mortgage lender.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
why wont they accept a personal cheque? is this normal?0

Really you need to ask the solicitors themselves. They are the one's who will know for sure.
I would imagine that if they accepted a CCcheque for the searches then it should be OK for the fees also.0 -
I think what they mean is a bankers draft.0

Sadly mine just says they do not accept personal cheques for completion monies.
They only accept bankers draft or building society cheque, electronic transfer, cash, chip and pin debit card.
Sorry to cause confusion over this, i thought it was something that happened across the board.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
mine accepted two personal cheques .Mine didnt want paid by electronic transfer . I think your solicitor may have accepted a personal cheque that bounced and dont want to be caught again .You may be able to give a personal cheque in advance ,giving it time to clear .0
