Best Credit Card to swap to ?

Hi all, I currently have an EGG credit card which I've had for about 8years now and i've always paid my balance off in-full at the end of the month. This worked well when EGG gave cash-back for every pound spent, some years i'd get £30+ back. But now EGG have stopped this benefit and I currently get ABSOLUTELY no reward or benefit.
So now I feel its time to change ....
What are peoples thoughts or experiences of say Tesco, Asda or Sainsburys Bank cards ?
At least with these store card types i'd get vouchers back towards say Christmas food :o)

Basically looking for best card for benefits, i've no balance to transfer and always pay in-full each month.

Regards
John

  • John,

Tesco gives 1 Pt for every £4 spend out and about its not bad but not great.

I personally like the Lloyds Airmiles AMEX which gives 1 mile for every £10 so quite easy to clock up plenty of miles to fly for free.

Best bit, club card can be used to buy air miles so you can easily use both, and get best of both benefits!

    How does that sound?
Marry a Foreigner, its so much cheaper!
  • Thanks Savvy

Sounds great, I noticed most of the top 5 were AMEX cards, however I have to use an AMEX as my works card and have actually found it difficult to spend on it, s many places just don't want to take it ???
Also, small child on the way, so no flights for us for a few years yet, lol
Prefer to just stick with financial benefit for the shorter term

    Cheers though
    John

    Hi John

I have recently switched from Barclaycard to a John Lewis Partnership card.

We do our big monthly shop at Ocado and get two points for each £1 spent and one point for all other purchases.

I buy clothes, things for our home, gifts etc at John Lewis so this works really well for us.

I would go with the card from the company where you spend the most money each month. A colleague at work has a Tesco credit card and they saved enough Clubcard points last year to pay for their UK based holiday for two adults and their one year old son!
