    Can't see Ryanair doing this!

When landing at Luton on a Ryanair flight, they happily gave me a replacement bag at the desk with few questions asked.

    You guys have been lucky....

My suitcases have been damaged at least 3 times and i did like you did and every time but one it was a claim form job, including the last time i had to find somewhere that did luggage repairs and get an estimate of the work needing to be done...Needless to say such a place didn't exist...

over the years I've had 2 cases after being damaged on return flights to Manchester
had to go to c/s desk, gave details etc, 24/48 hours later got a phone call, basically got offered a new replacement case, was well pleased when the new suitcase arrived

however this year when we returned to Liverpool airport on a Ryanair flight from Palma, found the handle on our case had been ripped off, went to c/s desk
where to be honest she was very unhelpful

took details, gave us a report, and advised us to get the case repaired.

I asked where do you get a case repaired, her answer was , the shop ????

anyway have since contacted Ryanair, have had to fill out a form, they have asked for either a receipt for the suitcase (which I haven't got as they where bought 2-3 years ago), or a estimate to get the case fixed, which I eventually got, however I'm not looking forward to a patched up suitcase

since sending the estimate to Ryanair I have still not herd anything, lets hope its good news, although why does it take so long whit Ryanair, where as others can sort it in a few days

Much to my surprise the assistant started to type away asking me for my details.
Got a bit stroppy and said I didn't want a claim form, which is what I thought she was doing, (because it isn't worth claiming on insurance for a case), I was angry and just wanted to give them a piece of my mind.

Was it the advisor's fault that your case was damaged? No, it was not. Perhaps next time you speak to another human being you will be more polite, think about how you would wish to be spoken to. You should be ashamed of yourself.
    Gone ... or have I?

It should be made clear that not all baggage reports made at the arrivals baggage desk with BA will get you a new bag. They will look at the bag, the cost of the bag and the damage, and assess its repairability. They may take the details contact a repairer for advice and then decide. If it is a very expensive bag, or a small amount/easy to fix damage, they may send it to be fixed instead.

I didn't even know about the desk at the airport at the time. I contacted BA when I'd got home and sent photos, they still sent a replacement.
