Hopefully there is a solution for this but I am sure it will cost alot to sort out as always...
Since having a new hard drive installed, my laptop screen has a feint but annoying, thin green line towards the right of it. It is horizontal and if I used to gently push it, it would disappear. Now it is constant unless I put the screen at a certain angle and put pressure on the side of it.
It's nothing major but is a pain at times, especially if I'm on a page with a dark background.
As I said this problem has been since I had the hard drive fitted and a bit of work done by a repair shop. This was over a month ago so I can't really go back now and blame them although It's strange how it was fine before that!
I'm not that technical with laptops and wouldn't know how to replace the screen or change connections etc so please go easy on me! I've had the laptop two years and would think about buying a new one rather than sorting it but having just spent £100 on repairs that would be harder to swallow ...

If the line goes when you move the screen it sound like a dodgy connection with the screen, or screen it self. If you dont feel you can fix this your self you have no option to take it to a repair shop. What they charge for the repair really does depend.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. To hazzard a guess I would say that this was caused by mis-handling by the person who changed your harddrive. You should have taken the laptop straight back to this person as soon as you noticed this fault, now its going to be hard to prove. I would just put it down to a lesson hard learned and purchase a replacement screen. If its a 15" screen its going to cost around the £70 mark depending on model and if its a 17" its around the £100-£110 mark.
As for fitting the screen do it yourself as its no more difficult than wiring a plug. Do a search on youtube and there are videos on how to do it. I have replaced many screens for friends and family and I always use a company called Notebookbitz who trade on ebay. They are very helpful and if you look on their ebay page there will be step by step instructions with photos on how to change the screen. Oh yes and they do free delivery also.

If you aren't confident replacing the screen yourself ask your local computer repair place what they'd charge to a)open the laptop up and check that the connection between the laptop and screen is seated properly b)source and replace the screen, or c)just do the replacement if you provided the screen.0
