Vintage wines and port

I have some very good vintage wine and port to sell that my father in law bought as an investment.

I have tried to sell them on e-bay and they keep being removed even though I see other people selling alcohol on there.

Can anyone tell me where else I can sell them online.

Many thanks

  • Not sure, pretty sure alcohol is banned from ebay though, but it's just a case of being unlucky that someone kept reporting your auctions, ebay dont police the site themselfes, they rely on sad geeks who sit around reporting peoples auctions!

    Good luck finding somewhere else
  • hi.. there are certain items that are not allowed to be sold on ebay.... just because you have seen some listed.. it dosent mean that they get sold either....

i should imagine.... if your wine is vintage and is of a year... and from a vineyard.. that is highly collectable... you could find a suitable wine auction. house .. that specialise in this field..... have a look on the internet... and do some reasearch....might even get more money that way....

as wine is a specialist market.....

me ..i like larger of a smooth.. but high vol.. especially orangeboom....

  • You can only sell alcohol on ebay if it's not for consumption... and in a collectable bottle that is not available to buy in shops.

You could try these http://www.brentwoodwine.com/sell_wine.html but it really depends on the types, rarity and importantly how the wines have been stored

Fay's correct. The specific wording is:
    Collectable Containers
eBay will permit sales of unopened collectable containers that still contain alcohol as long as each of the following conditions are met:

    * The value of the listed item is in the collectable container, not its contents. Thus bottles of wine are not permitted because their value is based on the wine in the bottle, and not the bottle itself.
    * The listing description should state that the container has not been opened, but that any incidental contents are not intended for consumption.
    * The item must not be available at any retail outlet, and the container must have a value that substantially exceeds the current retail price of the alcohol in the container.
    * Sellers should take steps to ensure that the buyer of these collectables is of lawful age in the buyer and seller's jurisdiction (generally 18 years old in the UK and Republic of Ireland, 21 years old in the US).
    * Buyers and sellers must ensure that the sale complies with all applicable laws and delivery regulations in carrying out the transaction.
    Can I help?
