I really want to say something positive but the urge to slap you around the head is overwhelming me. You do know that life is possible without a television? Trust me it is possible. A washing machine, a cooker, a fridge and even a microwave or computer I can understand but I think that your equivalent of the OR will jump on you.
I don't know what the retail value of a second hand tv is but if you've paid out £600 for one then it is not likely to be a 16" lcd Asda special is it - is there no way to sell it and pay towards the debt and get a cheaper one - even if it does leave a space the size of an aircraft hanger in your living room. I am not sure if that will make things worse.
What you have basically written has damned you in as much you knew you were in debt and yet you continued to buy items for a lifestyle that was not tenable - from a personal perspective I am wondering if I have done similar so please don't think that I am getting at you. You know you get a to a stage where anything you spend will be seen as making you culpable, even second hand clothes and whitegoods.
If you desperately need a tv try Freecycle - it won't be the newest or the best but it will allow you to sleep at night - and at least they will see that you have made some kind of effort. Good luck0 -

affluenza gave a very reasonable response, and you have confound yourself even more with your answer, if there is any justice in the UK you will get a bru.... let the flaming begin0 -
Hello Broxie long time no speak
Hope you are otherwise OK
I am no expert on Scottish system-is this an extension of existing credit/new credit?
Try not to worry broxie, whats done is done and someone more in the know will be along soon x0 -
BB - sorry to say this but you have made a huge mistake

the only thing i can say is when you do go BR tell the truth, i dont know the rules for Scotland but if you was in England taking credit when you knew you was insolvent would lead to a BRU, as it could be classed as fraud.

OK maybe after having read the Sun story I was feeling somewhat underwhelmed by the level of commonsense. We all do things on the spur of the moment and let's not forget that we had the World Cup this year which meant that everybody needed a 32 inch tv. When faced with pretty shiny objects we become children and because Jimmy down the road had one...
I would suggest that you go to the library or citizens advice and look at what can happen in sequestration - would it be seen as fraud or a temporary moment of insanity I don't know. But what I am saying is that if you have a chance to rectify it - I would do so. It may be that a BRU or equivalent is nothing important to to and it may not prevent you from doing things that do. In my case it would scupper albeit temporarily any business plans and opportunities.
You won't be the first person to have done this, but if you can mitigate it in any way and seek professional advice. Good luck.
Addendum: you know paying it off might be completely arbitrary if they then ask if you have any high value possessions because something of that nature might be seen as a disposable asset of the sequestration. If it is anything like the UK it could very well be seized.0 -
