Auto Aid warning

I just thought I would write and explain my experience of Auto Aid this year. In April the clutch on my car went and I had to call on Auto Aid for the recovery costs. I have been an Auto Aid member for about 3 years now but this was the first time I have used them. The costs were failry minimal (around £50) and I posted a letter to claim them back a few days after the incident.

A couple of weeks later I received a form telling me that I hadn't submitted all the correct documents so I took photocopies and mailed the documents. About a month passed and I hadn't heard anything to I called them and they said they hadn't received any documents and that they 'must have got lost in the post'. They then offered to contact the company and retrieve the correct documents. They called back and said everything was in hand and I would receive a cheque. I went on holiday for 2 weeks and when I got back, no cheque. I called them and they said they had issued it and that it 'must have got lost in the post'.

It's now two weeks after that and I have lost track of the number of times myself or my wife has called them to be told that the cheque is waiting to be printed or some other excuse. It's September and the incident was in April.

I'm not so convinced by these money back schemes after this experience, I think they bank on people forgetting to claim and sometimes create obstacles to encourage it!
