Working - Salary being donated to charity?
Hello
I appreciate this is a bit complicated.
I am currently on maternity leave and in receipt of stautory maternity pay.
Very sadly my baby was stillborn at 40 weeks and 13 days in June. I really want to do some charity work for SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society) before I return to my main job. I passed my NPLQ (National Pool Lifeguard Qualification) last week and I want to use it.
Could I work as a lifeguard and donate the money I earned direct to the SANDS charity? It seems that the work is regarded as casual work so you do not have a contract as such.
Thanks

It does not matter whether it is casual or not. The contract (even verbal) would be between you and the people engaging you to do the work. If you then wish to Gift Aid the money to SANDS, you can do so, but it would still be assessable on you.0

I am so sorry for your loss.
However, if you are still on maternity leave I am not sure that you CAN do any other paid work, even if you are intending to give the money away.
I can't quickly find a link, I'm afraid.Signature removed for peace of mind0
