been looking at downloading Adaware-would you recommend this-does anyone have a link to a genuine site-worried about downloading it from somewhere dodgy! Many thanks.

I presume you mean Ad-aware. The official site is: http://www.lavasoft.com/
However it isn't anywhere near as good as it used to be. I'd recommend just using Microsoft Security Essentials which has the added benefit of doing viruses too0 -

I wouldn't bother with Ad-aware. Maybe 5 years ago, not today. I'd suggest Avira for anti-virus and Malwarebytes for an on-demand malware scanner.0

Adaware, as said above, is next to useless these days
use malwarebytes as a scanner in its place ~
