If you sign up with Top Cashback website first then have a look at KD Beds - used them last summer through Top Cashback and got 20% cashback!!! Mattress was top notch and delivery was quick....getting £100 back was rather nice too0

I have looked online and can't find much in my range apart from the named brands
I dont know what Tim has against large brands but I have always had "large brand" mattresses and so have millions of other people. Do what i do goto a your nearest bed store try out some mattress and see what feels right.
Tim will probaly start to flame me right now, and start insisting you cant decide if a mattress is right for you by just laying on it in a store.
Overtime you will adapt to the way your new mattress feels, its the sudden change in mattress that will probaly make you feel uncomfortable.0 -
Hi Tim,
I think we all appreciate your expertise in the field of mattresses, the difficulty for me is that I have looked online and can't find much in my range apart from the named brands, I have done quite a detailed search online. If you or anyone can give any specific makes/models to what to go for, I would be more than happy to take this advice. I'm after a double, on the firm side (or firm), for as little as possible (but under £150), for a guest bed.
Thanks. :j0 -

What I have against large brands is that in recent years most have been taken over by big multinationals, who are more interested in profit that good quality products. So most of the production has been automated, and the quality of the components used has been reduced. This means that the quality that you get for your money is far less with the big brands than it is with the smaller independents. Most of the small independents still make mattresses by hand, and still take pride in the quality of their products.
I don't need to go to a store to know this, because I'm in the bed industry, and I know how the bed trade operates. Don't be taken in by expensive TV advertising.BlueCheese wrote: »Tim will probaly start to flame me right now, and start insisting you cant decide if a mattress is right for you by just laying on it in a store.
Not at all. You can believe what you want. I'm just giving you the benefit of my expertise, to try and stop you from making an expensive mistake. The choice is yours.BlueCheese wrote: »Overtime you will adapt to the way your new mattress feels, its the sudden change in mattress that will probaly make you feel uncomfortable.
This is complete rubbish. If a mattress is unsupportive then you won't get relaxed sleep, you can get muscle tension, and it can often lead to back and neck pains.
What is correct is that when changing to a new mattress that is more supportive than your old one, it is common to experience some back pain for a short period of time while you back adjusts to the extra support it is getting.0 -
I believe mattressman make some of their own mattresses - so it is their own RRP's they are discounting from!A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Good site, fast delivery- stock levels not always right on site.......
another criticism would be they dont offer discount for returning customers!0
