What to use to seal small gap between door (wooden) and weather bar?

Hi,

I am getting a slight draught from my front door.

The door is wooden, and has a metal weather bar fitted at the bottom of it. Unfortunately it seems as if the door has been cut badly at the bottom, and now there is a small gap between the door and the weather bar on each side of the door. I only just saw the incoming light through it when the sun was shining onto the door.

What should I use to seal these gaps with? Silicone maybe?

I reckon silicone would be as good as anything - flexible and waterproof, choose a colour that won't show too much against the door ( e.g. brown if it's a brown door ).

One idea - depends on how your weather strip is attached. If it's just screwed in place, you could unscrew it, apply a thin bead of silicone to the "inside", then screw it back. That way, you'll seal it and you won't even see the silicone, should give a nice neat job.

there should be a freshhold ..

thats is a raised wooden bit that stays in place across the opening ...it should be just higher than the carpet on one side ..and about an inch high on the other ..

perhaps someoes had new carpets and tore it out .
