No I only get £50 a month and that's for 4 children-it's the max I can get on income support-any more than that and they take it all off you.Debts Jan 2014 £20,108.34

just a couple of things
originally you said all the debts were in her name only but it now appears that one loan is joint...is that right?
well she should still stop paying it but they will then chase her ex for the money but thats just tough isn't it
if she has already agreed to pay two of the CC £5 then she may simply want to continue that rather than offer £1.
she needs to ignore what her ex tells her about 'having' to pay the debts, he's merely an ex now and she needs to control her own affairs for the benefit of herself and the little one.0 -
hi im sorry i thought i put that the £6k was a joint account previous. and yes she would be willing to pay £1 to repay them back if she can get an extra £50 off CSA that'd b a bonus for her.. as lilun wasnt well her potty training gone down pan so shes had to buy nappies and also she has to buy baby milk as well still spends £18pm on that shes thinking of getting nappies for just £4 cheap 1s as she is trying to potty train her now. and milk she gets tokens for but buys cows milk.. leah drinks the baby milkthou i was quite unhappy when i went Health Visitors to get step 3 c&g milk to be told they dont do up to that and we now had to buy from the shops is this correct? as i can see why most mums start there babys on cows milk early! £2.50 for cows milk limit and £6.99 for babys milk i know what 1 i'd rather pay but sticking to baby milk:o:eek: [STRIKE]£11,362.86[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]9,973.11[/STRIKE] Loan

I would suggest going with her (if you can) to your local CAB.
They will help her to:
- sort out a realistic budget to ensure that she and her baby have food, nappies and can pay the essential bills
- write to creditors in order to reduce the payments and/or freeze the interest
- advise on options such as bankruptcy / debt management plan
If she has to wait for an appointment, tell her to do the following:
- write to each creditor saying that she is unable to pay her bills and is taking advice from the CAB. Until she has worked out what to do, she will stop the direct debit and encloses a cheque for £1 as a token payment. Keep copies of the letters.
- stop the direct debit payments to the creditors
- keep but do not respond to any letters - take them to the CAB. Do not make any 'deals' with creditors, stick to the £1 per month until she has seen and got advice from the CAB.
If the CAB is not able to help, she could also try:
- national Debt Line https://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk
- Consumer Credit Counselling Service https://www.cccs.co.uk
- Payplan https://www.payplan.co.uk (I know she has already contacted them, but it would be worth trying again and asking about bankruptcy).
However, I have suggested the CAB first as from your posts, it comes across that your friend would be better speaking to someone face to face than corresponding by writing (I don't mean to sound patronising at all, but she doesn't come across very well in writing, and I get the impression that she may not find it easy to deal with paperwork), and you get that individual help at the CAB.0 -
Very sound advice from freda!
Your friend is eligible to (weekly) £57.45 Income Support, £44.38 Tax Credits, £17.45 Child Benefit plus full Council Tax and Housing Benefit. She should expect from this to be making nominal offers to creditors of £1 per month.0 -

As I said earlier, go to the CAB for the best help and advice. They will have template letters that you can use.0 -
Babies over 12 months can have cows milk, the followup milks after 12 months are a con0
