Hello,
I have Microsoft Works but not Office. I need to produce a CV - something which I can't find any templates for use with Works.
Does anyone know a place that I can find Works templates to download for CVs.
Or, has anyone used Open Office and could give feedback? If I make an Open Office file would it be able to be openned in Office if I email the file to someone? Does Open Office come with templates (specifically for CVs).
Thanks for your help.

there is a CV template here for open office
http://documentation.openoffice.org/Samples_Templates/User/template/index.html
just remember to use "Save as" to save the file in a Word format rather than the default open office one, it can then be opened by anyone with Microsoft Office or Word.
I find Openoffice almost exactly the same to use as Word etcEx forum ambassador

There are loads of templates you can download for free. Just Google for them
For example http://www.bluelinecareers.co.uk/Docs/JobSeeker/CVGuide.shtml
Don't email Word documents unless that is what has been asked for, and save it so it is compatible with an early version of Word (eg 2000). If the recipient can't read it you won't make the shortlist!

Hi ec9wrrn
If you're interested in Open Office it was discussed recently in this thread:-

OpenOffice is very good. Sometimes it can differ in terms of formatting from Microsoft Office though.
For such things though, you can download the free Microsoft document viewer (for opening word files).

Anything I make with Writer in OpenOffice, I check to see with the above app how it'll view in Word just incase there are any obvious problems."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
Unless you have been specifically asked to provide the CV in Word, I would advise you to use Open Office and save it as a pdf (there is a button that does that automatically). That way you won't have to worry about the formatting and they will definitely be able to open it.0
