Just venting on here as am not sure where the right place is for this...
Very frustrated as my Sony walkman S-series died 14 months after purchase (post-1-year-warranty of course) & I can get neither Sony nor the seller - amazon to take any responsibility. Amazon offered £20, saying I had reasonable use out of it.
Have sent it into Sony repair centre - where, after paying the required £71 repair fee, they have told me that this is due to a main board failure - which sounds to me like faulty component. But they say they do not produce a detailed report that I can send to amazon to claim back this fee.
Sony say they will replace it with a different model as the part is no longer in stock. But that still leaves me £71 out of pocket. Amazon will only take responsibility under sale of goods act if I can prove fault was present at sale & have just referred me to their legal dept to send an engineers report to. Sony service centre says they do not provide this & won't get involved with amazon.
Seems customer is stuck in middle with worst of both worlds.:(

How much did you pay for it?Gone ... or have I?0

it cost £108 originally - for which I'd expect to get a bit more than 14 months use!0

You have 2 choices except Sony's offer. As I assume it's out of 12 month Guarantee they don't have to offer you anything. Or you need to get an independent report showing it was unfit for purpose. The reason Sony won't provide a report is they would be proving their own product isn't fit for purpose which would open up a huge can of worms for them so they would be stupid to do that.0

For £71 or thereabouts if you shop around you could have bought a new S series.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.
