Bailiff fees rising when account is in dispute

  • Thanks King100 (and others),

Nopes haven't posted on CAG but will try it as the more advice the better I think.

Just seems that the bailiff once instructed can continue regardless as to whether the fine is taken away by the council or not.

As they haven't recovered any monies (and the council may never need them too) can they still persue me for their costs?

Unfortunatly I cant park around the corner as I have 3 little un's with one being especially little (3 months!)

The wife has suggested that she answers the door to them and tells them I've moved but I cant see that as being a solution.

Either CAG or bailiffadviceonline.co.uk. There may be a small charge but they certainly know thier stuff so could be worth it.

I would second the above advice to try bailiffadviceonline, dollarhound.

Regular posters here, and on CAG and pepipoo forums have heard good reports of their knowledge and advice (I have no connection with them, just genuinely saying that I believe they are worth the fee for the advice they can give you to sort this out once and for all).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Write to the bailiffs explaining to them that they are harassing you with unreasonably escalating fees and if they continue, they may be liable to be sued for this.
In addition, write to the council as an official letter of complaint and be prepared to take it either to the ombudsman (if a county court judgement has been made against you) or a judicial review if one has.
    If it moves; sue it!
