Hi All,
I have been using this site for the last few months and learned a lot but this is my first post.
I have had a quote on 11 scandinavian softwood sliding sash windows and one door - supply only for just over 7k?
I have looked online and on this site but really hard to get any rough prices so I don't have anything to compare with.
Your views would be appreciated.
Dennis

Is this as supply form Skn? does it cover any import taxes (are there) what are the guarantees?
If this is simple haulier, on a truck, carriage here and offload, i strongly suggest you look to a UK Haulier for a quote for a return trip to Skn collection and return.
Find out the load/palette size from the originator and factor that in to the quote.
Google to trip and find a coy from here who drop stuff off there then they could have an empty recovery vehicle itching for a load.
Its a kerfuffle but when dealing in these values its worth an afternoon of phone calls and searches.
Hope that is usefulMarry a Foreigner, its so much cheaper!0 -

Yes and sorry I should have given more details. It's with delivery directly from the factory to me (cost was around £400 so don't think that can be done much cheaper)0 -
There must be someone out there that can give me some rough prices?0

Does the factory have a website?........IMO you won't get much for £7k....... Are they Traditional Boxframes with weights ? or Spiral balances? Scandanavian Softwood will show signs of rot within 10yrs unless Vacuum treated..
Need more info, Do they have Hardwood sills, double glazed sealed units conforming to part L of building regs or are they single glazed? are the sashes devided by glazing bars, if so how many is each sash devided into? 4,6,8 panes.......Toughend glass or float glass all this is rellavent0 -

It's the ones made by Vrogum sold by various companies in the UK with Low E glass. They are not on weights so I guess it must be springs. No dividers.
I got a quote for the same windows in Rehau PVCU windows and that came to 5.5k but to be honest I would rather go for the wood even though they are a bit more expensive.0 -
Generally speaking you would get a better quality product from a good local Joinery.Mass produced windows are fine but the quality of materials and finishing will be of lower quality.Having said that they will do the job you need them to do...Personally I don't like windows made from Laminated timber as this is a sign of cost cutting.
Softwood windows will not last as long as a decent Hardwood, so if theres a choice and you can afford it go for Hardwoods like Sapele,Brazilian Cedar or Iroko ... European Oak is even better...0
