Carvery near Primrose Valley

Hi,

We are going to Haven at Primriose Valley this weekend on our Sun £9.50 hols :T, and would like to go out for a carvery on the Sunday.
Does anyone have any reccomendations for a good pub nearby that does a reasonably priced carvery ?

We went to Primrose valley last year and went to crown carvery at Scalby Manor in Scalby near Scarbourough. http://www.crowncarveries.co.uk/

I live near there and I love a carvery!
Avoid The Plough at Lebberston like the plague. It might be close, it might be cheap but it's absolutely awful. We went 2 weeks ago and had to queue for half an hour for food that was average at best. The meat was like leather, the veg were tasteless, the frozen roast potatoes were dried up and the gravy was like water.

As recommended, the Crown Carvery at Scalby Mills is nice. We go a lot and although the veg are frozen too, it's loads better than The Plough. You might want to get their early because it does get busy.

Just to add, if you're flexible on whether it's a carvery and would be happy with a good Sunday lunch, the Denison Arms in East Ayton is well known for it's excellent food and massive portions! But it's quality too, and a roast beef dinner will cost you around £7, which is similar to a carvery.
  • Hi

The Railway Tavern in Hunmanby does the best carvery around, it's gorgeous, and very reasonable too. It's about a mile from Primrose Valley.
  • I recommend the Fox hounds at Flixton or The Denison Arms at East Ayton, though Flixton is closer.

    Hi

Thanks for all your suggestions, my mouth is watering just thinking about it !!!! I can't wait :-) The Crown Carvery looks good, but i have heard that the Railway Tavern is also good - decisions, decisions lol
  • I would also recommend Scalby Manor, in fact I would recommend Crown Carveries wherever you go.

During the week, they are very well priced at £3.59 per adult, £3.25 per child (Sundays less than £7 per adult). Good food, hot and plenty of it.

Staff at Scalby Manor very helpful and friendly also.

Gone and done it now, will have to go for a carvery tonight.:j
