lovefilm.com offer that's not an offer

Options
Earlier this week I received an email from lovefilm.com stating if I came back to them I could get 3 months for the price of 1. Great offer. Was slightly confused though as I thought I was a customer but had been on a low usage tariff over the summer which was about to expire, so though great offer, who's going to refuse that. Tried and the link just went through into my user account. Wrote to them...and get the following response. Clearly the computer says no, don't understand, can't cope etc. How many of their current users have they hacked off by sending them an offer that they can't avail themselves off.

Here's the response I got:...

Hi Sara ,

Thank you for your email.

This is to confirm that we have sent come back promotion offer to all our customers. The software does not differentiate between the existing and the non-existing customers. Unfortunately, this offer can not be availed on the current account.

For further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

  • yeah i had this offer too! and im a £12.99 a month customer. It really confused me cos i thought someone had closed my account!!
  • I did get told I could close my account and reopen to use the offer...suppose they're hoping people won't bother.
  • In my experience, Lovefilm (Screenselect) are very good at responding to concerns /complaints without actually answering the complaint or offering assistance, finishing off by telling you to write again for further 'assistance'...

I think there is something seriously wrong with companies that are not prepared to offer telephone numebrs for customer complaints, like Lovefilm, Ebay and Paypal to name but a few.

If these companies weren't such monsters, nobody would give them the time of day...
