LL being akward

hi just a quick question my sis rents privatley they moved in in june on a fixed 6 mnth contract,( after spending loads of time and money decorating the house, ) yesterday she got a puppy for her BF as a gift, anyway she had a text 2day saying that alough the land lady said they couild have a dog before they moved in, she now doesnt want the dog there ??? ( there is no mention of pets in the t.a ) can they stay put untill the 6 months is up ?? also the TA states that they have to give 1 months notice before moving out or LL has to give them a months notice...i thought it was 2 months notice from LL ??? any advice please ??? also the agreement is from 2004 ( guessing its the same one she used for previous tenants ??? not just wanted to make sure its a legal document ect as if they leave before 6 months they still have to pay her 6 months rent ? and if they give notice to her do they give her a months notice from the end date of contract ??

1. They can stay until at least the end of the fixed period.
2. LL can issue at least 2 months notice at any point in the fixed to expire on the last day of the fixed period.
3. Date agreement was written is not really relevant. There have been no changes to ASTs since that date that would have to be reflected in the agreement.
I suggest, if they wish to continue living in the house after the fixed period, that they negotiate with the LL over the puppy.0
