How to scribe something to fit an uneven wall?

I'm sure this is very simple but I seem to have a mental block and the more I stare at it, the bigger the block is becoming.
Does anyone know of a website (preferably with a picture or diagram
) showing how one would scribe the first piece of flooring to go against a wall that is slightly banana shaped?
It's not something I've done before and the instructions I've seen witter on about using 3 lengths of wood and it's just not making sense to me.

Put the floorboard up the banana wall. If you then get a piece of wood/metal etc that is the width of the biggest gap, and run your pencil down the outside of this piece of wood/metal the entire length of the floor board and cut along the line.
This might help: http://www.laminate-flooring-installed.com/installing-laminate-flooring.htmlRegards, Robin.2011 MFW # 34

Lay the wood out where it wants to go along the length of the wall push it all the way up to the wall, make sure its square with the room.
You will then see the bits you will need to cut from your boards. Take a small piece of wood that is big enough to bridge the gap between the wall and where the board doesnt meet the wall, get a pencil and draw a line moving the block all the way along the board using the small piece of wood as a guide.0 -
Ah, thank you. Both your posts are so much simpler than the instruction sheet I had. I finally 'get' it now.
