Oooh hadent realised tank tops were back.
Showing my age there.
Hey, beanie - I like a wee tank top in the autumn, keeps me cosy!
I see you were in my neck of the woods yesterday - I'm the Porty lass! Glad you enjoyed your trip, and well done for resisting Mr Luca ( I love him);)!)
Jinty - your chutney recipie sounds yummy - I am still waiting for the appearance of elusive fresh cranberries for mine but have a glut of apples from Freegle (apple crumble day today) - what's your recipie for apple, date and ginger chutney? (or is it a family secret!?)
Hi Kerri, congrats re credit card - what a great feeling that must be!
Heres the chutney recipe for you and Spoon:
Apple Date & Ginger Chutney
3lbs apples, peeled, cored & chopped
2 cloves garlic, finely sliced
8floz cider vinegar
1.5 lbs sugar ( any kind, white or brown)
9oz dried dates, chopped finely
4oz sultanas or raisins
2oz fresh ginger, grated
1/2 teasp salt
1/2 teasp mixed spice
1/2 teasp cayenne or chilli powder (less if you dont like spicy)
1/2 teasp black pepper
Method:
Put apples in a heavy pan with the garlic & vinegar.
Cook gently till the apples break down into a thick pulp.
Add the rest of the ingredients and cook gently for about 20-25 mins, stirring occasionally.
Warm your jars in the oven at @ 110c for 10 mins to steralise, then pot up your chutney.
Store for 2-3 months in a cool, dry dark place, ie shed or garage , to let the flavour develop.
This recipe made 5 jars. ( I used 100g coffee jars)

Good morning everyone,
Well, sadly, I cant report a NSD yesterday as I ended up paying for the replenishment of the goodie cupboard and I treated OH to his tobacco and papers. He's actually very good with money in that he never really spends on anything for himself so I dont mind treating him now and again!;)
Anyhoo, we spent most of the day cooking yesterday - made the chutney, looking good folks, and also made a batch of Scottish tablet, which is sort of like fudge but eye-wateringly sweet and fantastic! We have tried it before with mixed results, but yesterdays turned out lovely! The plan is to make some nearer C-day and give as part of pressies. I'm hoping to make a lot of our presents this year! Also OH made a lovely lamb rogan josh, which we'll have today.
I'll get my target today, Im sure. I'm going to church this morning, then knitting this afternoon I hope!
BTW, Spoon - the tank top IS stripy( Its the type of wool that knits up stripy), maybe Im hankering after my misspent youth in the Seventies!;)
Have a lovely day everyone:)
