Avira claims viruses in player downloads..?

I like to watch the occasional streamed film from the Net but lately Avira has been flashing up alerts that 'a virus was detected' when I've tried to download e.g. VLC or Xvid software.

Needless to say, I've always gone for the 'deny access' option but this has meant an end to my filmwatching ambitions.

Any idea what's happening?

Which version of Avira are you using?

Also are you downloading vlc/xvid software from official sites?

Can you name the viruses that Avira is finding please when you download vlc/xvid software.
