Alternative To Allotments
Hi all, I don't venture into this branch of MSE very often but feel I should as there seems to be a wealth of knowledge here.
Anyway, just thought I'd share my little adventure regarding growing my own fruit and veg.
My garden is rather overgrown and a complete mess. I rarely go out there as it frightens me. I'd love to grow my own but couldn't justify getting an allotment whithout sorting out my own back yard first.
Then I came across this website:
http://www.landshare.net/index/
Basically, this site marries up people who want to grow grub but don't have a suitable garden or can't get an allotment, with those who have got a garden or some land sitting idle or going to waste.
I signed up earlier this year and have had a few replies. Unfortunately none were suitable as they didn't live close enough or have transport.
Now, my neighbour/friend is going to take on my garden. Yay! Free food for us next year! I'm so looking forward to my new venture with my neighbour/friend.
So I thought it would be nice to spread the word that if you are waiting for an allotment plot to become available and your garden is not suitable for veg growing, there is an alternative.
Thanks for reading.
