Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask but Ihoped someone here would be more knowledgable. My 4 year old has decided she wants to go to the air show this year. She is plane mad, I blame her dad but anyway we were at the aquarium at St Andrews and she spend ages afterward watching the jets going in to land over the bay, on the way home there was a billboard for the airshow and when she asked what it was daddy said the airshow and she has talked about it incessently for the last 5 weeks. It is her birthday in a few weeks and she wants to go as her present.
Sorry for going on but I have concerns about noise levels, We also have a 2 year old and ideally we would like to go as a family of 4, I haven't been there for about 15 years which is shocking cnsidering i live only a few miles from base but I can't remember it being particularly noise but I was older.
Has anyone been with young kids? Did they enjoy it? Can you use a stroller due to the 2 year old or is it just too busy?

LilacPixie,
You can use the stroller although it will be busy (weather dependant). I would get some ear protection for the kids as it can be very noisy. Try to get the protection prior to going as some stall holders will sell them ridiculously overpriced. I addition, I would also take a pre-packed picnic and cold drinks. I was there last year (really sunny day) and really enjoyed it.0 -
Dont forget the suncream, my dad went to one and came away with horrible burns. (you never know the weather may be good) !0

Ear protection wont be needed all the time, just for really the fast jets like the Dutch F16 & the Typhoon. You will hear some loud blade slap from the Chinook etc, but this is only a short noise.
Ear protection could be anything from putting your hands over there ears, or buying some decent ear defenders from machinemart, ebay, amazon etc.
Another factor is again how close you are to the display line, if your at the crowdline then your pretty much as close as you can be to the display line, so this will again be louder than say 100mtrs from the crowdline. Everyone likes to arrive early, and get a good spot against the fence to get a good view.
Ive seen this at Kemble, where 1 man proceeded to setup a picnic table, and put up a wind break behind him to keep the rest of the people back. Rather funny to watch, as i was on the other side of the fence.
Take a packed lunch and store it below the pram, even look to take some cheap foldable chairs from tesco or something. I know that a burger, a drink & some fries can cost up to £8.
Sun protection is a good idea too, you maybe in the sun all day long, and your feet will no doubt ache by the time your ready for the car, so wear some suitable footwear.
Be prepared for the nightmare of getting home after the event, it can take up to 2-3hours to leave the area just through the traffic.
Good luck,
