Replacement Printer Required

Hi

I need a new printer - mine has given up the ghost after many years service.

I need it for general printing use - occasional photo printing and a scanning/photocopying function would be good.

Reliability, speed and inexpensive cartridges are a must.

I'd like to get some change out of £150 !!

Any ideas on a suitable model, and where to buy it from?

I personally like the latest Canon printers - I've been using an iP4000 for about a year now & cannot fault it. Excellent results, cheap individual colour cartridges, automatic duplex - 2-sided printing, prints on CDs. I believe it's been superceded by the iP4200 & it should be about £65 - £75 depending on wheher you want to buy on-line or direct. I've seen the Canon MP500 which is an MFP with decent specs, also has separate ink cartridges & is less than £130, even at PCWorld.

I got a Brother 2010 laser from Staples yesterday for just under £50, the cartridge is about £45 for toner, I have used 2 toners in nearly five years on my older Brother 1230 that this is replacing.

They had a Samsung all in one for £99 which might fit your requirements.
